Conference with Mario NAVA, Director General of DG REFORM at the European Commission

During this event, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the activities of DG REFORM as well as gaining insight on the inner functioning of the European Commission, directly from one senior executive with decades of experience in Brussels policy making.
Mario NAVA joined the European Commission in 1994 and held various senior positions. Since June 2020, he is the Director General of DG REFORM, in charge of the technical support to Structural Reform.
Previously, he served as Director for “Horizontal policies”, Director for “Financial system surveillance and crisis management” and, from 2011 to 2016, Director for “Regulation and prudential supervision of financial institutions” in the Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union Directorate General. During those years he also represented the European Commission at the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. Prior to that, he was Head of the “Banking and Financial Conglomerates” Unit and of the “Financial Markets Infrastructure” Unit. He was also a member of the Group of Policy Advisers of the EU Commission President, and a member of the Cabinet of the Competition Commissioner. In 2018 he was President of the Italian Financial Market Authority (Consob).
Alongside his current work, he is active in research and teaching. He is currently Visiting Professor at Bocconi University (Milan) and at Solvay Business School (Brussels) and has been teaching in several universities in Europe and Latin America.
