Dear Sciences Po Alumni,

We are delighted to invite you to an exceptional culinary experience during this Holy Month of Ramadan.

Sciences Po Alumni is organizing an Iftar in collaboration with kōl on Friday, April 7, at The Alley at MiZa at 6pm. The Alley at Miza is a cultural experimentation space located in the Mina Zayed neighborhood in Abu Dhabi.

The iftar will be about inter generational transmission and will celebrate the Algerian gastronomy. It will be 100% vegan to demonstrate that traditional Maghrebian dishes are often based on simple staples and adapted to many diets.

Kōl explores the plant-based dishes of Algeria and how food is a way to create a link between generations, even when they are apart in the world. Inspired by the curator's yearning for his childhood home cuisine, the iftar recreates the digital inter generational link that often happens between him and his mom over a video call to share, discuss and adapt recipes. Through storytelling and conversation, we will discuss how food connects generations, preserves cultural traditions, and creates a sense of belonging across time and space.

The menu for the evening includes a variety of vegan dishes inspired by the flavors of North Africa. Each plate has been carefully crafted to showcase the diversity and richness of the region's cuisine and the unexpected vegan nature of several ancestral food traditions.
