Sciences Po Alumni Shanghai held a lecture on Sino-European relations
On December 9th, Sciences Po Alumni Shanghai held a conference themed on " A new era in China- EU relations: the shared global responsibilities in economic and trade cooperation "
Ms. Zhou Hewei, Vice-President of Sciences Po Alumni in China, first welcomed all the participants and expressed her sincere thanks to the speakers and partner organizations for their support. Ms. Zhou Hewei called on more partners to promote China-Europe dialogue in joint efforts with Alumni. She urges for positive contributions to continuously deepening exchanges and understanding as well as the friendship between China and Europe.

At the invitation of Alumni, French Consul General in Shanghai Mr. Joan Valadou delivered an opening speech and a concluding speech. The Consul General highlighted the importance of the EU-China partnership, which goes beyond the bilateral framework and plays an important role in tackling major global challenges such as climate change, epidemics and food security.

Ms. Valentina Wu, Executive Secretary-General of Fosun Foundation, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of Fosun. Fosun is an innovation-driven consumer group dedicated to providing high-quality products and services for families around the world. Since its establishment, Fosun has been adhering to the original aspiration of "Self-improvement, Teamwork, Performance and Contribution to Society" shouldering corporate social responsibility and insisting on serving the society, the people and the nation. Ms. Wu said: "Fosun has in-depth business connections with France and Europe. In the future, we hope to have more comprehensive and in-depth exchanges with Sciences Po Alumni and the French Consulate General in Shanghai to maintain good relations. Fosun will always adhere to the ESG practice and the corporate core value of ‘Construction to Society’, caring about the society, and making a better world together."

Distinguished scholars and business leaders from China and Europe gave speeches, including Professor Ding Chun from Fudan University, Professor Christian Lequesne from Sciences Po, Mr. Jens Ewert from Deloitte China, Mr. Ji Tianhe from Brevan Howard, and Mr. Wu Chen from the Economist Global Business Review. The participating experts and scholars shared their views on the China-EU current situation, challenges, and future development from the perspectives of academics, business and investment. They made suggestions for further improving China-EU economic and trade relations and promoting the bilateral cooperation.

By the end of conference, Ms Caroline Puel, President of Sciences Po Alumni in China, emphasized in her closing speech that since the outbreak of Covid in 2020, exchanges between China and Europe have been greatly affected, and it is urgent to strengthen exchanges and reduce differences. As the epidemic comes to an end, we look forward to more in-depth exchanges between China and Europe in the future.
Here, Sciences Po Alumni Shanghai would like to thank Fosun Foundation and Fosun Trade for their support of this conference. At the beginning of the Covid outbreak in 2020, Fosun Foundation assisted Sciences Po Alumni China in donating medical supplies to three French hospitals. This conference represents the cooperation once again between the two sides to jointly promote the friendship between China and Europe.
At the same time, Aden Group, the Economist Global Business Review and Astek Interactive gave great support to the successful sincere of this conference, for which Sciences Po Alumni Shanghai expressed a sincere gratitude.
We believe that such valuable dialogues are especially needed in today's world. Since 2021, Sciences Po Alumni Shanghai has promoted dialogue between China and Europe on key issues by regularly organizing meetings that bring together high-level experts from business and academia. This meeting heralds the beginning of a new round of close exchanges. Let’s look forward next year.
