World Energy Outlook 2024
The IEA's flagship World Energy Outlook identifies and explores the biggest trends in energy demand and supply, as well as what they mean for energy security, emissions and economic development.
This year’s Outlook comes against a backdrop of escalating risks in the Middle East and heightened geopolitical tensions globally, and explores a range of energy security issues that decision makers face as they proceed with clean energy transitions. With rising investment of clean technologies and rapid growth in electricity demand, the WEO 2024 examines how far the world has come on its journey towards a safer and more sustainable energy system, and what more needs to be done to reach its climate goals.
After an introduction by PSIA Professor Giacomo Luciani, IEA Chief Energy Economist Tim Gould will present the WEO 2024, followed by interventions by Charlotte Roule, Executive President at Storengy, and Arina Khotimsky, second-year master's student in in International Energy Transitions at PSIA.
The event is chaired by Denis Florin, Chair of the Group Energy and Infrastructure at Sciences Po Alumni.

Tim Gould
Chief Energy Economist, International Energy Agency (IEA)
Tim Gould joined the IEA in 2008 and is Chief Energy Mr. Gould, Chief Energy Economist at the IEA since 2021, offers strategic advice on energy economics. Head of the Division for Energy Supply and Investment Outlooks, he co-leads the World Energy Outlook and oversees the World Energy Investment report. With experience in European and Eurasian energy issues, he holds degrees from Oxford and Johns Hopkins.

Charlotte Roule is a Board member of Gas Infrastructure Europe and President of Gas Storage Europe. With 20+ years in energy, she was Director of Strategy at ENGIE, and Managing Director at Storengy UK and ENGIE China, focusing on strategic dialogue, energy transition, and clean energy solutions.

Denis Florin, founding Partner of Lavoisier Conseil, has more than 25 years of consultancy experience, focusing on energy, infrastructure, technology, and defense. He advises on strategy and new ventures globally. Denis holds degrees from Sciences-Po Paris and UCLA, where he teaches on energy and strategy, and contributes to major publications. He is also a member of start-up strategic committees and contributes to the Financial Times, Futuribles, Les Echos, Le Monde, Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Wall Street Journal and Platts.
